Saddle Up Syrah
2023 Paso Robles
Strap in and ride the flavor corral of Syrah’s grit and gusto.
TASTING NOTES
This rich and deeply hued wine opens with a subtle, dark chocolate aroma, followed by coffee notes and a touch of cracked peppercorn. A delicate floral note of violets adds an unexpected lift, brightening these bold aromas. The palate is plush and rich with velvety tannins that lead to black plum and black currant nuances. While the intensity and depth of the wine is evident in the glass, it is very approachable and an impressive example of how complex Syrah can be.
ABOUT PASO ROBLES
Located in California’s Central Coast, this diverse wine region is renowned for its ability to produce exceptional wines across a wide spectrum of varietals. Its unique terroir, characterized by diverse soil types ranging from sandy loam to clay, coupled with its warm, Mediterranean climate creates ideal conditions for ripening grapes slowly and evenly. This results in wines with concentrated flavors, rich textures, a vibrant acidity, and distinct regional character.
FOOD PAIRING
Grilled lamb chops with a rosemary crust echo the wine’s herbal and savory notes. Smoked brisket or ribs from a slow BBQ match its intensity, with the smokiness tying into Syrah’s depth.
