The Founders’ Story

CATCHING THE BUG

Richard and Julie, both native Texans, met during happy hour at a favorite Houston watering hole.  Three years later, Richard sold his oil company and the couple moved to California.  They settled near Paso Robles in the beautiful and bucolic wine region of California’s Central Coast. At the time, Richard had never been wine tasting but agreed to give it a try. He became instantly hooked, and being surrounded by over 300 wineries provided him abundant opportunities to sample wine and learn all about wine making.

LOVING LAID BACK PASO

Julie had previously experienced wine tasting in the Napa and Sonoma regions, so she was delighted with the more laid back approach to wine that Paso Robles offered. Because winery owners and employees seemed to enjoy sharing their knowledge with anyone interested, the “newbies” felt comfortable asking questions and learning new things. Wine tasting became a favorite pastime for the couple and they enjoyed the experience of the different tasting venues as they socialized with friendly locals and tourists alike.

DISCOVERING HIDDEN TREASURE!

Richard, consummate entrepreneur that he is, began to dream of growing and making his own wine. And just when Julie was starting to wonder how much his new ventures were going to cost, an extraordinary thing happened.  The landscapers uncovered an overgrown and long forgotten hobby vineyard right on their own property. After some much needed TLC, the vineyard produced enough healthy fruit to harvest and Richard began experimenting and learning various winemaking processes. With some trial and error, he was able to make wine worthy of bottling and the couple gifted them to friends and family. He labeled his first wines “Juliette” in a romantic gesture to Julie. And eventually, his wine improved so much that people were requesting more.

BRINGING A UNIQUE WINE EXPERIENCE TO A TEXAS LEGEND

Richard and Julie eventually became homesick for Texas and their families back home, so they moved to Boerne in 2018. But once here, they began to miss their wine tasting and making hobby. They decided to bring their experiences of Paso Robles here to share with fellow Texans. Richard and Julie wanted to combine the best of both worlds; to create a truly special but relaxed brand of fun and enjoyment. As they looked for the perfect venue, the historical Luckenbach House on Boerne’s Main Street fortuitously came up for sale. The house is currently being renovated and lovingly restored to become the perfect setting for sipping California grown wine in a uniquely Texan atmosphere. We hope you will come sip the legend.

Opening in Summer of 2026!
