Ranger’s Reserve El Valiente
2023 CENTRAL COAST
This Bordeaux-style blend is distinctively intense with a harmonious balance of rich textures and concentrated dark fruit flavors.
TASTING NOTES
This Bordeaux-style blend is a captivating journey through California’s Central Coast’s diverse winegrowing regions. Its base is 41% Cabernet Sauvignon from the warm, dry San Antonio Valley, producing a distinctively intense Cabernet. The remaining blend comprises 20% Merlot, 20% Petit Verdot, and 19% Cabernet Franc, grown in the sun-drenched Paso Robles region, known for its diurnal temperature shifts that result in slow, even ripening. The final blend was aged in 40% New French oak for 22 months.
This powerful wine boasts a harmonious balance of textures and flavors: aromas of caramel, ripe cherries, and vanilla give way to a palate of fresh raspberries and subtle earthy mocha notes. The finish is long, smooth, elegantly rich, with lingering caramel hints.
ABOUT CENTRAL COAST
San Antonio Valley AVA, tucked into southern Monterey County, is one of California’s best kept secrets for big, expressive red wines. Shielded inland from the coldest coastal influences, it enjoys long, sun‑drenched days that drive full phenolic ripeness and concentrated dark fruit character in a variety like Cabernet Sauvignon. At the same time, cooling evening breezes from nearby Lake San Antonio and surrounding hills help preserve structure, giving these wines firm yet polished tannins and enough acidity to keep all that power in balance. Well‑drained, gravelly and loamy soils naturally limit yields, further intensifying flavor and contributing to the dense, plush, boldly framed style that defines San Antonio Valley reds.
